Behavioral Health Technician 3rd Shift Full-time

Position Summary The purpose of the Behavioral Health Technician is to assist in providing a safe environment for individuals. The BHT answers clients’ questions and assists in adjusting program routine, reporting any changes in the client’s physical or mental condition. The BHT is responsible for supervising clients during the program with emphasis on client safety and wellbeing. Essential Duties Record inventory log of all personal belongings, valuables and return ticket. Tickets and valuables to be kept in the safe. Complete required lab requisitions per protocol. Monitor clients at all times, including specific rounds and logging clients' whereabouts. De‑escalate AMA and other client problems. Participate in all staff meetings as scheduled. Ensure garbage is disposed of properly throughout the shifts as needed. Monitor group room to ensure cleanliness after each activity. Hand off information necessary for next shift technician after each shift. Maintain logbook for continuity of care. Participate in shift turnover and ensure the next shift is aware of pertinent information as it relates to clients. Attend required staff training. Supervise clients completing the Program with emphasis on safety and well‑being. Remind clients of program rules and regulations as necessary and report infractions immediately. Provide emotional support for clients while referring them to therapy staff to address clinical issues. Complete assigned paperwork in a neat, timely and accurate manner. Communicate with other staff as necessary to promote quality client care. Participate in maintaining clean, properly supplied and efficient work areas. Observe and report safety and maintenance problems. Interact appropriately with clients, showing respect while maintaining boundaries. Exercise sound professional judgement and seek assistance as necessary to effectively manage client behavior, including but not limited to suicidal concerns and issues of trauma. Protect privacy of all client information in accordance with facility privacy policies and procedures. Transport clients as needed. Other duties as assigned. Requirements High School Graduate or GED (preferred). Experience working in substance abuse and/or mental health (preferred). Valid state driving license with no major violations in past five years. Key Competencies Must be detail‑oriented. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible and dependable. Strong interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to multi‑task and manage time effectively. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions. Empathetic and non‑judgmental approach when working with clients from diverse backgrounds. Familiar with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Work Environment This position requires working in a temperature‑controlled environment 80–90% of the time spent indoors. Potential exposure to violent situations and airborne/blood‑borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials may occur. The role involves standing, walking, bending, stooping/kneeling, reaching, and pushing.
