Job Title And Description

Major Duties Provides financial advice and performs accounting work for VA programs. Advises on and/or performs professional financial accounting duties. Develops accounting procedures and resolves technical problems in executing an integrated accounting system. Resolves system issues, classifies accounting transactions, analyzes data, and participates in closing accounting and preparing reports and statements. Timely processes, balances, reviews and reconciles accounting data to check for inaccuracies. Administers accounting systems designed to track, reconcile, and report on VA programs, funding and/or appropriations for which the agency has legislative oversight responsibility. Interprets appropriations and appropriations law and financial reports for operating officials and management and advises them of the proper appropriations or funds chargeable, and proper documentation and method to be used for obligation of funds.

Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm

Compressed/Flexible: Available if management approved

Telework: This position may be authorized for situational or ad-hoc telework only. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
