People Analytics & Operations (Rotational Program)

About the Role You will join Notion's People Analytics & Operations team as part of an 18‑month rotational program focused on building the insights engine that powers every people decision. Over the course of the program you will rotate across people operations, people analytics, and compensation/benefits, gaining ownership of real projects and preparing for a permanent role within the People organization. Responsibilities Build the insights engine: write SQL that powers headcount, attrition, and hiring funnel dashboards; transform raw people data from Workday and Snowflake into actionable analyses; model candidate loss and propose process fixes. Run the HR operations engine: execute employee lifecycle transactions in Workday (new hires, transfers, terminations), coordinate onboarding and offboarding end‑to‑end, triage and resolve employee requests, support compliance and audit readiness, and keep headcount and requisition data clean. Tell the story in data: take a messy people question and produce a clean narrative—from pulling the data to presenting findings and recommendations to senior leadership. Prototype AI‑assisted workflows: identify manual, repetitive work across HR operations and replace it with smarter solutions—automated onboarding task routing, AI‑assisted ticket triage, self‑running offboarding checklists, compliance reminders, etc. Build and own the People team’s Notion workspace: develop pages, databases, dashboards, and views that become operating systems used by the entire team. Qualifications Native SQL user: write queries that join, filter, aggregate, and transform data; debug and troubleshoot complex answers. Quantitatively sharp: background in business, economics, statistics, or mathematics; proven analytical storytelling skills. High agency and urgency: take initiative, fix broken processes, and make decisions in ambiguous situations. AI fluent: use AI tools regularly to accelerate work; demonstrate practical use cases where AI enabled results that would be difficult alone. Notion power user: deeply familiar with Notion’s features and can create efficient, reusable systems. Nice to Haves Exposure to Python (basic loops and logic). Familiarity with Workday, Snowflake, or similar HRIS or data warehouse tools. Prior experience in a business operations, finance, or sales operations context. Compensation Notion offers competitive base salary, equity, and benefits. For San Francisco roles the estimated hourly base salary range is $40.87 – $59.62. Compensation is based on location, scope, complexity, and experience.
