The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divideAbility to generate, read, interpret, and take action as it relates to basic financial statements, national and state regulations, safety rulings, operational and maintenance and organizational policies / proceduresAbility to write reports and correspondenceAbility to effectively present information to patients, families, employees, health care providers, etc...Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively to maintain good working relationships with staff and health care providersAbility to work with skill in identifying problems; making frequent decisions regarding method of performanceEQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS:CalculatorComputer and printerFax and copy machineGeneral office materials/suppliesInformation SystemsTelephone systemAll Patient Care Equipment IV pumps, lifts, beds, monitors, computers, glucometers, oximeters, pneumatics, CPM, etc.SECURITY/ACCESS:Will have access to the facility 24 hours a day.Will have access to confidential information abiding by the organizations privacy policies and regulations concerning this information.Essential Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesUtilizes the nursing process, for the performance of patient care, to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care to achieve prioritized patient outcomes.Performs complete admission assessment, including full body system analysis and home med reconciliation process for med-surgical, obstetrical, newborn, pediatric, ER and outpatients.Performs patient/family teaching for assessed knowledge deficits.Evaluates patient progress toward desired outcomes prior to discharge.Demonstrates personal accountability in the delivery of patient care in a competent, professional and compassionate manner.Implements and provides safe and therapeutic care for patients during surgical intervention.Utilizes and assures principles of sterile technique based on knowledge and observation of practice.Demonstrates knowledge of surgical techniques, terminology, and use of equipment.Acts as a patient advocate even in the face of criticism or non-compliance.Maintains a quiet therapeutic environment in the OR.Anticipates needs of the surgical team.Maintains an orderly neat, organized and stocked work area.Sets priorities based on changes in patient status, potential problems and unusual occurrences.Assists in change process for improvement in regulatory compliance, infection control, patient safety, customer service or employee satisfaction.Demonstrates the safe practice of medication administration.Performs and maintains documentation.Documents accurate and ongoing assessments of patient status that reflect nursing interventions, patient responses, patient teaching and status of outcomes at discharge.Completes shift end check with another nurse prior to leaving duty.Communicates effectively.Communicates and collaborates effectively with other health team members regarding patient condition, nursing plan of care, patient satisfactions needs and recommendations for meeting identified outcomes.Follows approved shift report format when communicating patient information.Identifies and recognizes abnormal symptoms/changes in patient condition, established priorities, and takes appropriate action. Appropriately reports condition changes to medical provider.Promotes and ensures patient safety in performance of all responsibilities.Administers medications, treatments and procedures in a timely and safe manner according to physician orders and nursing policy, (including appropriate performance of standard precautions, using two patient identifiers, and performing patient risk assessments).Demonstrates proficient technical/clinical skills and operational knowledge of equipment on unit.Informs and involves manager regarding patient care issues in a timely and appropriate manner.Utilizes proper body mechanics, transfer/lifting techniques and appropriate equipment to minimize fall risk to patient and injury to self.Follows HIPAA regulations and ensures that the confidentiality of patients medical, personal, financial records, employee records, and organizational records is maintained.Participates in FCH committees, quality assurance, performance and quality improvement initiatives, and activities which support the facility and department operations.Complies with the state and federal regulatory requirements related to the performance of FCH operations and requirements of the FCH Compliance Program.
