Location: Nashville, TN Metropolitan Area
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $30-35/hour
Benefits: This position is eligible for health, dental, vision, and 401(k).
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join a growing team. This role will support day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and various accounting projects.
The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Prepare journal entries and maintain appropriate supporting documentation
- Provide support for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed
- Assist with payment processing, deposits, credit card activity, and vendor inquiries
- Prepare routine financial reports and assist with variance analysis
- Support audit requests by preparing schedules and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records
- Partner with internal teams to research and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures
- Assist with other accounting projects and responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of relevant accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with an ERP or accounting system; experience with systems such as NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or Oracle is a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments
