Calibration Technician
Micro-Coax, an Amphenol Company
SUMMARY The Calibration Technician is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the calibration system and the control of monitoring and measuring test equipment (M&TE). This role coordinates the recall and collection of M&TE, supports internal calibration activities, and coordinates calibration and repair services with approved outside vendors. The Calibration Technician maintains accurate equipment records and calibration documentation to help ensure M&TE remains properly identified, traceable, and suitable for its intended use. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Administer and maintain the calibration system, including M&TE master records, calibration schedules, equipment status, certificates, and supporting documentation. Monitor calibration due dates and initiate recall activities in sufficient time to support on-time completion and minimize disruption to operations. Gather M&TE from manufacturing, inspection, laboratory, maintenance, and other applicable areas for scheduled calibration, verification, or repair. Coordinate the return and redistribution of M&TE after calibration, ensuring equipment is properly identified and returned to the correct area or owner. Perform approved in-house calibrations and functional checks within the limits of assigned training, procedures, standards, and authorization. Coordinate calibration and repair services with approved outside calibration vendors, including quotations, purchase requisitions, shipment preparation, status follow-up, and return receipt. Review outside calibration certificates and service documentation for completeness, equipment identification, calibration results, standards used, traceability information, and required approvals. Apply, replace, and verify calibration status labels and equipment identification in accordance with calibration-system requirements. Identify and segregate M&TE that is overdue, damaged, malfunctioning, missing identification, or otherwise unsuitable for use, and notify the responsible function. Escalate out-of-tolerance or as-found conditions and support product-impact evaluations by providing equipment history and available usage information. Maintain accurate calibration, repair, location, ownership, and status information in applicable electronic systems and controlled records. Coordinate the calibration, verification, maintenance, storage, and protection of company calibration standards and supporting equipment. Assist departments with the identification, registration, and control of new, transferred, or replacement M&TE before use. Perform periodic floor sweeps or audits to verify that M&TE is registered, within calibration, properly labeled, protected, and located as recorded. Support internal, customer, and third-party audits by providing calibration records, certificates, equipment histories, and evidence of system control. Generate and review calibration metrics, including overdue equipment, vendor turnaround, repeat repair, and out-of-tolerance trends, and communicate concerns to Quality management. Promote proper care, storage, transportation, and use of M&TE and provide guidance to equipment users regarding calibration-system requirements.
