Summary This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Learn more about this agency Duties Help As a(n) Epidemiologist, you will:
- Serves as a national or internationally recognized consultant and expert on epidemiological issues on critical problems in the field of epidemiology.
- Identifies and analyzes public health issues and their impact on public policies or epidemiological studies or surveys.
- Designs, plans, and initiates epidemiologic studies, surveys, and investigations.
- Evaluates data collection, quality control, and data utilization methods used to study epidemiological problems and issues.
- Provides advice and assistance for the development of contracts, grants, or cooperative agreements for professional, laboratory, or other services pertinent to the program, project, or study.
- Prepares statements of work, participates in technical review panels for contract proposals, and oversees contracts and cooperative agreements to ensure quality assurance and quality control.
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service -
- Suitable for federal employment
- Meet time in grade restrictions by the closing date of the announcement

- Probationary (or trial) period may be required.
- Conducting epidemiologic analyses and surveillance activities using multiple large-scale data sources to assess trends, evaluate outcomes, and generate evidence-based findings.
- Designing epidemiologic studies and surveillance systems by applying advanced epidemiologic methods to ensure data quality, validity, and reliability.
- Evaluating epidemiologic studies and surveillance activities by assessing data quality and providing technical leadership and consultation for epidemiologic projects, contracts, grants, and cooperative agreements.
