Job Description
Temporary Laborer Assignment anticipated to last approximately 12 weeks working 40 hours per week.
DEFINITION
To perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled grounds and custodial maintenance activities on City parks, streets, buildings, vehicles and other City-owned properties; to operate and maintain a wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment; and to perform a variety of maintenance duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives immediate supervision from higher level public works maintenance staff. Duties

Experience and Training Guidelines Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
At least six months of work experience.
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Knowledge of :
Methods and techniques of general grounds maintenance. Methods and techniques of general janitorial maintenance. Hand tools. Power tools. Operational characteristics of mechanical equipment and tools used in the maintenance of City street, parks, solid waste, vehicles and wastewater treatment systems.
Basic principles and practices of mechanical repair and preventive maintenance.
Basic tree care and maintenance. Shop tools and automotive maintenance equipment used in repairs.
Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
Ability to :
Learn operation and repair characteristics of a wide variety of vehicles, equipment, pipes and facilities used in the City. Read measuring tape. Safely perform all duties assigned. Learn methods and techniques of general building maintenance and repair.
Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose problems and causes in automotive, diesel and related systems.
Learn to systematically perform preventive maintenance.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Field environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, heat, cold, waste and infectious materials and inclement weather conditions; work in or with water.
Physical Conditions:
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for heavy, moderate or light lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time.

Lemoore is a growing community with approximately 25,000 residents and is located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, equidistant between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Home to Lemoore Naval Air Station, which is the Navy's newest, largest, and only west coast master jet base, serves as a home for all Navy F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet aircraft and the brand new F-35C squadron on the west coast. The base supports the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS :
Public Employees' Retirement System: The City provides the PERS retirement program, 2% at 55 for Classic Members and 2% at 62 for New Members. Holidays: Twelve (12) specific holidays, plus forty (40) floating hours. Vacation: Vacation leave starts at 12 days annually, increasing to 21 days based on time in service. Sick Leave: Sick leave accrual of 12 days per year with unlimited accumulation. At retirement, unused sick leave may be applied toward retirement. Medical, Dental, Vision: The city provides health insurance through Public Agency Coalition Enterprise (PACE). The City pays $1,710 towards medical, dental, and vision premiums. Life: A Basic Life insurance policy of $50,000 is provided for all City of Lemoore employees. Tuition Reimbursement : $750 annually for lower division course work, $1,500 annually for upper division coursework.

Essential Functions :
- Maintain parks, playground equipment and restrooms; repair sprinklers and broken lines; use a riding lawnmower, weed eater, edger, tree trimming and other groundskeeping tools and equipment.
- Maintain City buildings and properties; provide janitorial services; empty and clean trash receptacles; dust, clean and refinish furniture; disinfect and clean bathroom areas; vacuum, sweep, scrub, seal, wax, buff and mop floors; clean windows.
- Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed.
- Respond to emergencies as needed.
- Respond to inquiries and questions from the public.
- May assist in performing other maintenance work as assigned.
- Attend safety and training sessions and seminars.
- Set up rooms for meetings and events; clean up after meetings and events.
- Maintain inventory for all City buildings.
- Plant, prune and trim trees and shrubs and remove debris.
- Maintain flower beds including weeding and fertilizing; spray pesticides and other chemicals as needed.
- May be required to work any shift, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. May be subject to call outs after hours and weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
