Modernization Software Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level)Company:The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Modernization Software Engineer to support our Space Mission Systems (SMS) Ground Mission Management (GMM) team with our Global Satellite Configuration and Control Equipment (GSCCE) program in Colorado Springs, Colorado.Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Mid-Level Modernization Software Engineers.As a member of the GSCCE team, you will be involved with updating and modernizing the global military satellite communications (MILSATCOM) ground system that will manage the Boeing-built Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) satellites Payloads for all F1-F12 satellites. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and development to the maintenance and support of the delivered system for our customers.Position Responsibilities: Develops and maintains responsive applications using Java, Python, C++, React.js, HTML, CSS, and related technologiesDesigns, develops, analyzes, documents, and maintains software systems that meet industry, customer and internal quality, safety, security and certification standardsCompletes software system-level analyses to identify risks, issues and opportunities; integrates and deploys mitigation actions throughout the software lifecyclePerforms code reviews to ensure alignment to requirements and standards. Monitors and reviews test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for software systemsStrong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root causes, recommend direction, and develop a solution to ensure optimal performanceDevelops clean, maintainable, and efficient code within the existing codebase, ensuring alignment with established architecture and coding standardsAdvocating for improvements to product quality, security, and performance that have a particular impact on your team and othersSupports junior engineering talent with mentorship or technical guidanceExcellent communication skills, working with end-users to design and build solutions to their needs, a habit of self-directed learning of new technologies, and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environmentBasic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor’s degree or higher1+ years’ career experience in systems engineering, systems integration, and/or software engineering1+ years’ experience with JavaPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Level 3: 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 2+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of directly related work experience OR 10+ years of related, relevant experience Experience with web based development, leveraging ReactJS, Redux, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSSExperience with RESTFul APIsExperience identifying security vulnerabilities within source codeExperience with open-source software developmentExperience with web socket programming and object-oriented programming (i.e., Java)Experience troubleshooting software and network integration during platform deploymentsExperience integrating and troubleshooting front-end and back-end software components, including supporting fix regardless of componentKnowledge of accessibility standards and best practices, along with experience supporting Government security requirements for software delivery involving system accreditationExperience working in an Agile software development environment utilizing Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) or similar toolsConflict of Interest:Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.Work Location:This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
