Description:

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for growing equipment rental sales by developing new business and maintaining customer relationships. Duties include prospecting, visiting customers and job sites, identifying equipment needs, preparing quotes, and securing rental agreements. This position works closely with branch staff to coordinate equipment availability and deliveries, provide excellent customer service, and meet sales goals. Requires strong communication skills, a self-motivated approach, and a valid driver’s license. 

Duties & Responsibilities

· Manage an assigned territory by building customer relationships, visiting jobsites and offices, and identifying opportunities to increase rental revenue.

· Generate new business through prospecting, referrals, networking, telephone outreach, and digital communication.

· Create and execute account plans that support company sales objectives and territory growth goals.

· Recommend rental equipment and related solutions based on each customer’s project requirements, schedule, and budget.

· Prepare quotes, coordinate availability and delivery details, and maintain accurate records of customer activity and follow-up.

· Monitor local market activity, customer demand, and competitive offerings to support informed pricing and sales decisions.

· Partner with operations, service, transportation, and branch personnel to provide dependable service and resolve customer needs.

· Maintain consistent communication with existing accounts to encourage repeat business and long-term customer loyalty.

Requirements

· Proven track record with 3 to 5 years of outside sales experience within the industrial market and/or heavy equipment industry preferred

· Strong relationship-building and consultative selling abilities.

· Clear, professional communication in person, by telephone, and in writing.

· Effective prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.

· Organized and self-directed, with the ability to prioritize appointments, follow-ups, and multiple customer requests.

· Comfortable entering active jobsites and unfamiliar business settings while maintaining professionalism and situational awareness.

· Detail-oriented approach to quotations, account information, rental terms, and customer documentation.

· Responsive and adaptable when customer priorities, schedules, or business conditions change.

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn customer relationship management, quoting, and rental systems.

Work Environment

· Safety is # 1 importance, and policies must be adhered to all times. 

· May involve long periods of sitting, walking, or standing.

· Walking in the yard and shop may involve weather exposure, and uneven terrain.

Exposure to heavy machinery and diesel-powered equipment in operati
