Treasurer

Company Description: Safe Place for Pets is 30 this year! We are a small but mighty nonprofit supporting g terminally ill individuals by finding forever homes for they pets. Role Description The Treasurer is a volunteer, role based in the Greater Colorado Springs Area, responsible for overseeing the financial activities and records of the nonprofit. Day‑to‑day tasks include maintaining accurate accounting records, monitoring cash flow, and managing bank accounts in accordance with policies and applicable regulations. The Treasurer prepares the budget annually and works with the bookkeeper who prepares monthly financial reports for the Board, tracks income and expenses for meetings and events, and supports compliance with local reporting requirements. This role collaborates closely with other board members to plan financially sustainable programs and ensures timely payment of invoices, reimbursements, and other chapter obligations. The Treasurer may also assist with donor‑related financial matters, such as accounti reconciliation and financial aspects of sponsorships or fundraising initiatives. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in bookkeeping, budgeting, and financial reporting, with the ability to maintain accurate and organized financial records. Proficiency with accounting or spreadsheet software (e.g., QuickBooks, Excel) and comfort working with online banking and digital payment platforms. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem‑solving skills applied to financial data and compliance requirements. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with board members, vendors, sponsors, and chapter members. Experience in nonprofit or association financial management, or prior treasurer or finance committee experience, is beneficial. Understanding of basic financial and regulatory concepts relevant to small organizations; High level of integrity, reliability, and discretion in handling confidential financial information. Ability to commit sufficient time for regular meetings and ongoing Treasurer responsibilities in the Greater Colorado Springs Area.
