Patent Attorney

The law firm is seeking a Patent Attorney for their office in Des Moines, IA. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day tasks associated with patent law, including filing and prosecuting patents, rendering patentability and clearance opinions, drafting patent applications, performing due diligence, and other related legal services. Job Overview The Patent Attorney will play a crucial role in providing legal services related to patent law, offering expert guidance on patent preparation, patent applications, patentability assessment, and due diligence. This position requires a high level of expertise in patent law and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with clients and colleagues. The attorney will be expected to handle various aspects of patent law, and their contributions will significantly impact the firm's intellectual property practice. Duties Filing and prosecuting patents on behalf of clients Rendering patentability and clearance opinions Drafting patent applications Conducting due diligence assessments for clients Offering legal services related to intellectual property litigation (experience in this area is a plus) Requirements Admission to a State Bar Registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office A minimum of 3 years of experience in patent prosecution is preferred Education Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school Certifications Admission to a State Bar Registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Skills Expertise in Patent Law Proficiency in Patent Preparation and Patent Applications Experience in patentability and due diligence assessment Excellent communication and analytical skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Patent Attorney to join a reputable law firm and contribute to the firm's intellectual property practice.
