Job DescriptionMill Superintendent - Decatur, ILPosition Summary:The Superintendent will lead day-to-day operations of a Corn Wet Mill department to safely produce high quality products that provide value to customers and a return to shareholders. This role is accountable for safety, environmental compliance, operational reliability, and workforce leadership. The Superintendent is a member of the plant leadership team and reports to the Plant Manager.Essential Job Functions:Lead and promote a strong safety culture ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company safety requirements, including process safety management.Lead 24/7 operations of wet milling processes including steeping, grinding, separation, centrifugation, filtration, and dewatering.Own and deliver measurable performance against KPIs including safety, quality, cost, production, energy conservation, sustainability, and reliability.Lead, develop, and manage a unionized workforce of approximately fifty(50) employees including hourly and salaried team members while ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements.Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies to improve asset reliability.Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to improve OEE, yield, and cost performance.Develop and execute department strategies aligned with plant and business objectives.Support capital planning and execution to improve operational capability, reliability, and safety.Ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and food safety standards.Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for employees to drive engagement and accountability.Required Skills:Strong leadership and team development skills in a manufacturing environment.Working knowledge of corn wet milling processes and equipment.Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.Ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.Ability to work in industrial environments including extended walking, climbing, and variable temperatures.Required Education:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred) or equivalent experience in a relevant continuous process manufacturing environment will be considered in lieu of degree.Required Experience:Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing operations.Experience in a continuous process manufacturing environment.Experience leading teams in an industrial setting.Desired Experience:Experience in corn wet milling or similar food or ingredient processing.Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.Demonstrated success improving reliability, yield, and operational efficiency.Excited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed? REF:110659BRBase pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
