Assistant Branch Manager

Job Summary Serves as an integral part of the branch management team by delivering exceptional member and team member experiences, managing risk, supporting growth, and providing oversight to the operations of a branch in a complex environment. Drives membership growth, fosters a culture of teamwork, financial discipline, and operational integrity, and promotes the Building Member Connections Model to improve member engagement and onboarding. Key Responsibilities • Supports the Branch Manager with staff development, performance coaching, goal setting, and career pathing. • Assumes responsibility for all branch functions in the absence of the Branch Manager. • Communicates and tracks specific, measurable, attainable, and timely goals to achieve branch growth objectives. • Leads staff in meeting branch productivity and referral expectations across consumer loan products, membership growth, insurance services (WIS and WFS), investment services, and mortgage products. • Resolves escalated member inquiries at the first point of contact and oversees teamwork throughout the organization. Essential Functions • Consistently provides a high level of service and is committed to increasing member satisfaction. • Exercises sound judgment when processing member transactions and provides approvals for day‑to‑day transactions, including check approvals, check hold decisions, cash verification, transaction overrides, deposits, withdrawals, payments, and transfers. • Conducts loan quality reviews and approves loans in accordance with regulatory standards. • Maintains proficiency in legal aspects of accounts such as trusts, fiduciary accounts, and powers of attorney. • Provides notary public services. • Acts as an operational resource for staff regarding policies, procedures, and technology. • Manages branch staff, directs management activities, supports the Operations Supervisor, and develops performance goals aligned with organizational objectives. • Ensures staff knowledge remains current through training, career pathing, and compliance education. • Collaborates with key business units (WIS, WFS, Consumer Lending, Real Estate, Risk Management, Deposit Operations, Account Services, Card Services). • Drives member acquisition, retention, and engagement efforts; supports business development through local business relationships and community events. • Administers the branch budget and controls expenses, including salaries, overtime, and supplies. • Ensures compliance with audit, security, loss prevention, and credit union asset safeguard standards. • Maintains confidentiality of credit union and member records. • Attends required meetings, conducts branch staff meetings, and participates in training seminars or classes. • Maintains the branch’s physical environment, appearance, and professionalism to Wescom standards. • Maintains good attendance and punctuality in alignment with Wescom policy. Education, Experience, and Skills Bachelor's Degree and previous supervisory experience in a financial institution is preferred. Must demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills, be detail oriented, and capable of working in a fast‑paced environment. Proficiency in credit union operating systems, lending systems, mobile and online banking services, and Microsoft Office applications is required. Registration and Licensure NMLS registration is required for all Branch Mortgage Loan Originators and must be maintained. Must also hold valid Notary Public registration. Computing and Mathematical Skills Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Must understand and apply basic mathematical calculations, including rates, ratios, percentages, and bar graph interpretation. Physical Demands and Work Environment Position involves frequent standing, walking, sitting, hand movements, reaching, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. The work environment is moderately quiet and non‑smoking.
