A Brief Summary Of This Position This position is responsible for Quality Control (QC) coordination and execution of internal and external inspections, internal and external audits, and the creation, revision and enforcement of divisional, company, and customer procedures and specifications. It works with vendors, customers, third‑party auditors, and personnel from various departments and locations to develop quality assurance action plans and procedures. Essential Functions Performs a variety of statistical processing control (SPC) measuring, data gathering and analysis. Observes operating activities throughout all production areas; makes recommendations, develops action plans and follows up to ensure effective implementation. Represents the quality control department on task force committees related to continuous improvement activities. Develops and modifies procedures and work instructions for inspection and processing of manufactured and purchased products. Provides additional QC support to areas as determined by Site Leadership. Acts as backup support in QC Supervisor/Manager’s absence as needed. Provides and/or coordinates training to support departmental and customer needs. Coordinates inspections for customers with second and third‑party inspectors. Reviews orders to ensure compliance with customer requirements, including documents, notifications, and deliverables. Provides QC technical assistance to other Valmont manufacturing locations. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications of Every Candidate Associate’s degree with at least two years of quality control experience or at least five years of quality control experience. Two years of experience in a steel fabrication setting. Must be AWS CWI certified or able to become so within two years of eligibility. Level II certifications in accordance with ASNT‑TC‑1A in Magnetic Particulate Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT) or solid understanding of NDT methods. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Effective communication skills by multiple means. Acceptable prior performance and attendance record. Ability to pass a visual acuity exam per American Welding Society’s guidelines. Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications Four years or more of quality control experience, preferably in the metal fabrication industry. Level II certifications in accordance with ASNT‑TC‑1A (latest edition) in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT). Associate’s Degree in Non‑Destructive Testing, Welding, or Metallurgy. Previous experience working with or as a third‑party auditor or inspector.
