Field Service Engineer

Job Summary:This position (P2) reports to the Manager of Turbine Engineering and is responsible for assisting the turbine engineering team improve equipment safety, reliability, and performance. The field service engineer will gather information from the field, test equipment, inspect equipment, and develop maintenance procedures with the end goal of improving the reliability and safety of plant equipment.Essential Functions:Perform wind turbine foundation testing and inspectionsPerform drivetrain borescope inspectionsPerform wind turbine tower corrosion inspectionsPerform generator and electrical system testingOverseeing major turbine component replacementsQuality control on major turbine component repairs and replacementsPerform inspections of blades and review blade damageGather data for root cause analysisDevelop maintenance proceduresPerform reviews of maintenance procedure effectiveness in the fieldAssist in development and safe use of additional equipment evaluation techniquesTroubleshoot and maintain testing equipment and toolsQualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or similar from an ABET-accredited institution 0-3 years of relevant technical experience; experience with wind power generation preferredStrong working knowledge of wind turbine design, operation, and maintenanceAbility to read and understand mechanical drawings, hydraulic schematics, diagrams and other common specifications of mechanical systemsAbility to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and other common specifications in the electrical power industryGood communication skills, including ability to write inspection reports and work instructionsAbility to be self-motivated, remain focused, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervisionAbility to manage priorities in a complex, dynamic environmentAbility to work with site management teams to ensure the success of projects for the benefit of your internal customersPhysical Demands:Ability to climb and work safely at wind turbine heights (200 ft – 300 ft)Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting and reachingWillingness and ability to travel at least 50%Demonstrated ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license#LIHybridApplicants must have current authorization to work for any employer in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for an employment visa now or in the future.
