Quality Technician

Overview:

The Quality Technician supports product and process quality at Holley's MSD manufacturing facility in El Paso, Texas. This hands-on role verifies purchased and manufactured components against approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements; supports production teams with timely investigation and containment of quality concerns; and helps maintain the effectiveness of the Holley Quality System. The position works closely with Quality, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and suppliers to control nonconforming material, resolve issues, improve manufacturing processes, and protect customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection & Measurement

• Perform receiving, in-process, first-piece, final, and other assigned inspections of purchased and manufactured parts using approved drawings, specifications, inspection plans, and sampling requirements.
• Determine and document inspection status, including acceptance, rejection, rework, or escalation for disposition, within the authority and procedures assigned to the role.
• Use precision measuring and inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, go/no-go gauges, optical equipment, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
• Develop, modify, validate, and run CMM inspection programs using PC-DMIS; analyze measurement data and clearly communicate dimensional results and trends.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements applicable to inspected parts.
• Verify that measuring and test equipment is within required calibration status before use and report damaged, inaccurate, or out-of-calibration equipment immediately.

Production Quality Support

• Provide timely floor support to Operations Managers, supervisors, Team Leaders, and production employees by investigating and addressing quality concerns that affect safety, quality, delivery, or productivity.
• Perform containment activities when nonconforming or suspect product is identified, including product identification, segregation, traceability, inspection, and communication to affected stakeholders.
• Work with Engineering and Operations to evaluate product or process issues that may create nonconforming material, production disruption, warranty exposure, or customer complaints.
• Support verification of manufacturing setup, inspection methods, fixtures, test equipment, and process changes when requested.
• Communicate inspection results, defects, risks, and required actions clearly and professionally across shifts and functions.

Nonconforming Material & Corrective Action

• Ensure nonconforming material (NCM) is accurately identified, documented, segregated, and transferred to the Material Review Board (MRB) hold area in accordance with established procedures.
• Maintain complete and accurate MRB records and support authorized disposition activities, including return to vendor, rework, use-as-is, scrap, or other approved actions.
• Prepare internal nonconformance and corrective-action documentation and support cross-functional problem-solving using appropriate root-cause and corrective-action methods.
• Follow up on assigned corrective actions to verify timely completion, objective evidence, and effectiveness of implemented solutions.
• Support supplier-quality communication by providing clear inspection data, photographs, measurements, samples, or other relevant evidence to Purchasing, Engineering, and suppliers.

Quality System & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain accurate, legible, and traceable inspection records, test results, quality alerts, corrective-action records, and other controlled quality documentation.
• Participate in internal audits, layered process audits, product audits, and other activities that support compliance and continual improvement of the Holley Quality System.
• Identify recurring defects and unfavorable trends and recommend practical improvements to inspection methods, manufacturing processes, documentation, fixtures, or controls.
• Participate in safety, quality, 5S, lean, and other continuous-improvement activities and follow all applicable company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support business and operational needs.

What You Bring:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Hands-on experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines using PC-DMIS software.
• Experience performing dimensional inspection in a manufacturing, automotive, machining, electronics, or other technical production environment.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Demonstrated ability to use precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and related inspection equipment.
• Working knowledge of nonconforming material control, inspection records, traceability, and basic root-cause/corrective-action methods.
• Ability to analyze measurement data, recognize discrepancies or trends, and communicate findings clearly in writing and verbally.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, organization, and follow-through, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to collaborate professionally with production employees, leadership, Engineering, Purchasing, suppliers, and other cross-functional partners.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic quality, ERP, or recordkeeping systems.

Bonus Points For:

• Associate degree, technical certificate, or relevant college coursework in Quality, Manufacturing, Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• ASQ Certified Quality Technician, Certified Quality Inspector, or another relevant quality or metrology certification.
• Working knowledge of GD&T principles and advanced CMM programming or measurement-system analysis.
• Experience with automotive aftermarket products, electronics manufacturing, machining, supplier quality, or high-mix production environments.
• Experience supporting internal audits, ISO-based quality systems, corrective action, lean manufacturing, or structured problem-solving methods.

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly use hands and fingers to operate measuring equipment, inspection fixtures, computers, and production-related tools and to handle small parts.
• Frequently stand and walk for extended periods while performing inspections and providing support throughout production, warehouse, and quality areas; regularly sit while programming or reviewing records.
• Regularly reach, bend, stoop, and use close visual acuity, depth perception, and color differentiation to inspect parts, markings, finishes, and measurement results.
• Lift and carry up to 35 pounds independently, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety requirements applicable to the work area and task.

Work Environment:

This position works on-site in a manufacturing environment that is not fully climate controlled. Temperatures may vary and may be hot or cold depending on seasonal conditions and work location within the facility. The employee may be exposed to normal manufacturing noise, moving equipment, production materials, oils or cleaning agents, and active warehouse or production traffic. The role regularly moves between quality inspection areas, CMM or measurement workspaces, receiving areas, and active production departments. Required personal protective equipment and safe-work practices must be used.
