Job Description
Methodist Senior Services is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist Full Time to join our rehabilitation team at our Skilled Nursing Facility in West Point, Mississippi.

Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in helping residents achieve their highest level of independence and function. Through comprehensive evaluations, individualized treatment plans, and evidence-based interventions, the Occupational Therapist works to improve residents' ability to perform daily activities safely and confidently.
Responsibilities
Evaluate residents and develop individualized treatment plans based on their unique needs and goals
Provide skilled occupational therapy services in accordance with physician orders
Address deficits related to self-care, activities of daily living, functional mobility, and overall independence
Collaborate with nursing staff, therapy colleagues, physicians, and other members of the care team
Supervise and direct Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants as appropriate
Educate residents and caregivers on techniques and strategies to promote safety and independence
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board. Current license/certification in the state of Mississippi.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. Current license/certification in the state of Mississippi. Demonstrated competency in applying principles, methods, materials and equipment used in Occupational Therapy to the patient population served by the facility. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation. Demonstrated ability to assess patient needs and develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care. Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, bend, drive, stand, sit and reach constantly during an eight (8) hour day/shift. Ability to speak and hear to understand and give directions. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess and monitor patient/resident needs, maintain accurate records, understand directions and recognize people. Fine and gross motor skills. Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community. Work endurance ability to work eight (8) hour days/shifts. Ability to participate in sustained activity for up to three and one-half (3.5) hours at a time. Reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence. Possesses highly developed communication and problem-solving skills.
Additional Information
Working Conditions: Typical therapy clinic environment. Strong organizational skills in order to effectively maintain multiple projects simultaneously. Requires creativity as well as the ability to work independently. Ability to be discreet and maintain confidential information.
