Lathe MachinistThis role focuses on setting up, programming, and operating CNC lathe machines to produce high-quality components in accordance with detailed blueprints, drawings, and technical manuals. You will machine raw stock and landing gear components, ensure all work meets strict dimensional tolerances, and perform thorough visual and dimensional inspections. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and practical experience working in a repair station environment.ResponsibilitiesSet up, program, and operate CNC lathe machines to machine raw stock according to blueprint and drawing requirements.Set up and machine landing gear components in accordance with OEM manuals, component maintenance manuals (CMM), drawings, and blueprints.Run one or more CNC machines on a regular basis to meet production and quality requirements.Ensure all machined work meets dimensional tolerances specified on shop planning and travelers.Identify and remove defects within specified limits to maintain product quality and compliance.Visually inspect parts for surface and structural defects throughout the machining process.Perform dimensional inspections using appropriate inspection tools to verify measurements and tolerances.Carry out clean-up operations on machined parts, including deburring and breaking edges as required.Read and interpret OHM/CMM documents, blueprints, shop travelers, and sketches to determine machining requirements.Identify various alloys and select appropriate machining methods and parameters for each material.Set up, load, and adjust machines and equipment to optimize performance and maintain safe operation.Apply practical knowledge of procedures, practices, inspection methods, materials, tools, and equipment commonly used in an aviation repair station environment.Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and quality standards.Collaborate with team members and communicate any issues affecting quality, safety, or production timelines.Essential SkillsAbility to set up, program, and operate CNC lathe machines.Experience working as a CNC machinist, specifically with CNC lathes.Proficiency with Haas CNC equipment or similar CNC platforms.Ability to read, write, and understand English to interpret technical documentation and instructions.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in machining and inspection tasks.Ability to read and understand OHM/CMM documents, blueprints, shop travelers, and sketches.Ability to identify various alloys and understand their machining characteristics.Skill in performing precise measurements using inspection tools such as micrometers and indicators.General knowledge of setting up, loading, and adjusting machines and equipment.Practical experience with procedures, practices, inspection methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in an aviation repair station or similar environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsComfort working with landing gear components and other precision aerospace parts.Ability to work independently on one or more machines while maintaining consistent quality.Strong problem-solving skills when addressing dimensional or quality issues.Commitment to following established safety, quality, and procedural standards.Willingness to work on different shifts as needed by the operation.Why Work Here?You will work in a climate-controlled repair station that values precision, safety, and quality, providing a stable and professional environment for skilled machinists. Work is performed on CNC lathe machines, including Haas equipment, with access to inspection tools such as micrometers and indicators. First shift hours are available in an air-conditioned facility, and a second shift runs from 2:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The environment follows structured procedures and inspection methods typical of an aviation repair station, with an emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and adherence to technical documentation.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valencia, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $35.00/hr.Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
