Site: The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc. 40 Hours/ Rotating Shift MGB Cancer Institute at BWH About this role The solid tumor hematology oncology NP provides comprehensive ambulatory care to one or more disease‑specific medical oncology patient populations. The provider promotes a collaborative relationship between all providers, professional nurses and administrative staff to ensure continuity of patient care and efficient use of resources. Responsibilities include the assessment and management of solid tumor medical oncology patients, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and the development and implementation of appropriate plans of care across the trajectory of illness. Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations. Complete high‑quality, timely documentation. Participate in scheduled encounters and maintain capacity for urgent care for complex symptom evaluation and management. Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Ensure appropriate diagnostic procedures occur in a timely manner, coordinating with services such as radiology, facilitating clinic appointments, and communicating test results to patients. Perform, oversee, or assure completion of specialized procedures for the select medical oncology population in collaboration with the physician. Follow and manage patients in collaboration with an MD, enhancing continuity of care. Develop appropriate plans of care and follow‑up based on diagnostic outcomes and examination findings. Facilitate patient movement through the system and efficient use of resources through interdepartmental collaboration. Co‑manage communications between physicians, patients, families, and staff. Order medications and write prescriptions, including standard‑of‑care antineoplastics and investigational drugs per policy. Participate in research efforts to advance knowledge and promote research‑based practice. Maintain and update clinical knowledge and skills based on current practice and research. Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse with specialized knowledge and skills, responsible for daily management of selected patients. The practitioner works with a collaborating physician, follows mutually developed practice guidelines, and reports to the Nursing Director or Executive Nursing Director for discipline‑specific issues. Qualifications Education & Licensure Master's in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or PhD in Nursing (required). Experience in lieu of a degree is not accepted. Completion of a Master’s or post‑Master’s degree in Adult program accredited by CCNE or NLNAC. Current Adult/Gerontology (AGNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Certification by an accredited APRN certifying body (required). DEA registration required. Current APRN license to practice in Massachusetts (required). Experience Minimum 5 years of current nurse practitioner experience caring for an oncology‑focused patient population (required). Clinical nurse practitioner experience in an ambulatory practice managing a solid tumor oncology‑focused patient population (required). Oncology nursing board certification strongly preferred. Clinical experience ordering and/or administering antineoplastics preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficiency with Epic EMR. Strong managerial presence and ability to provide and direct feedback and guidance to staff. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to function effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Results‑oriented with strong attention to detail. Expert clinical judgment for independent role. Effective collaboration with patients’ families, staff, and community health workers. Ability to manage stress in busy clinical settings and changing organizational climate. Self‑directive and initiative in addressing position responsibilities. Problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
