Maintenance Specialist III

Natomas Unified School District is seeking an experienced Maintenance Specialist III to provide dedicated equipment maintenance and repair support for the District's Nutrition Services Department. This is a hands-on, field-based position that will travel between school kitchens throughout the District to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial kitchen equipment. While the official classification is Maintenance Specialist III, HVAC, the primary focus of this position is commercial refrigeration and food service equipment rather than traditional building HVAC. The position is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial refrigeration equipment, including walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-in refrigerators and freezers, milk coolers, compressors, condensers, and related systems. The position will also service combi ovens and other commercial kitchen equipment, perform preventive maintenance such as replacing filters and gaskets, and address electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance needs within school kitchens. Experience in commercial refrigeration, restaurant equipment repair, commercial kitchen equipment service, or a similar field is preferred.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent plus special training in HVAC maintenance/installation. Requires a minimum of 4 years experience at the journey level in doing installations and repairs. Journeyman's card or equivalent professional certification is desired.
