About the Role
The Company is in search of a Head of AI Research to serve as a Chief Scientist, leading the scientific strategy, research operations, and interdisciplinary teams. This executive role is pivotal in ensuring that the organization's research activities are in line with its mission and objectives, and that they have a significant long-term impact. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and overseeing a multi-year scientific roadmap, maintaining high standards of scientific rigor, and fostering a culture of collaboration and inclusivity. Key responsibilities also include leading and mentoring senior research leaders, designing organizational structures to support research priorities, and aligning research with fundraising and communication initiatives. Applicants for the Head of AI Research position at the company must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and at least 15 years' of experience in AI research or implementation. The role requires a leader with a strong professional network in the AI research community, the ability to recruit and develop senior scientific talent, and a proven track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary research organizations. Technical expertise in modern AI and machine learning methodologies, as well as experience in evaluating research quality and managing senior researchers, is essential. The ideal candidate will also have a passion for mission-oriented scientific research, experience in both academic and commercial research environments, and a background in applying AI to scientific or natural-world research domains.
