Assembly Technician – Data Collection
We are seeking disciplined, detail-oriented Assembly Technicians to build electromechanical devices while capturing high-quality data on the assembly process. This full-time, on-site contract role offers a clear path to permanent employment and, for strong performers, advancement into supervisory positions as the team grows. You will work hands-on at a bench with precision tools and electromechanical components, using data collection equipment to document each step of the build. Your consistency, accuracy, and discipline will directly influence the quality of downstream engineering and production work.
Responsibilities
- Assemble electromechanical devices according to detailed specifications, work instructions, and established quality standards.
- Operate data collection tools and equipment to capture accurate process data throughout each assembly operation.
- Maintain meticulous records of assembly activities and ensure data integrity across every unit built.
- Identify inconsistencies, defects, and potential process improvements, and escalate findings clearly to engineering and leadership.
- Collaborate closely with engineers and team leads to refine and improve assembly procedures over time.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe workstation, following all relevant safety and handling protocols.
- Follow structured digital workflows and documentation systems precisely, including SOPs and quality system requirements where applicable.
- Handle and manipulate tooling and mechanically fasten bolts within required cycle times during training and ongoing production.
- Adhere to all safety rules and guidelines, including proper waste handling and disposal procedures for hazardous materials used in painting processes.
- Support schedule needs across a variety of shifts, including days, nights, overnights, weekends, and potential overtime, while remaining reliable and punctual.
Essential Skills
- Prior experience in assembly, manufacturing, or a comparable hands-on production environment.
- Comfort using data collection tools and software, with the ability to follow structured digital workflows accurately.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new skills, adopt new technologies, and adapt quickly to new work environments.
- Strong attention to detail and discipline to follow procedures precisely, even during repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining a high level of craftsmanship and product quality.
- Excellent fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for precise electromechanical assembly work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a team-oriented production environment.
- Command of the English language, both written and verbal, to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, collaborative, and compliant work environment.
- Schedule flexibility to support a variety of shifts, including days, nights, overnights, weekends, and potential overtime.
- Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to commit to full-time on-site hours.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including up to 12 hours per day.
- Capability to frequently and repetitively lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs., and to climb a 10" step repeatedly.
- Ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs safely.
- Capacity to frequently bend, lift, and reach to install parts of varying size and weight overhead within allotted timeframes.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day, including over varied and uneven terrain.
- Willingness and ability to stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl for extended periods, including up to 12 hours per day.
- Capability to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other high structures as needed.
- Ability to identify issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing.
- Willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required, including safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, hearing protection, full-face respirators, and gloves.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with electromechanical assembly, including small components, fasteners, connectors, and wiring.
- Familiarity with quality systems, standard operating procedures (SOPs), or ISO-style documentation.
- Background in hobbies or activities that build sustained focus, hand-eye coordination, and procedural thinking, such as competitive gaming, model building, musical instruments, watchmaking, or similar pursuits.
- Interest in growing into a supervisory or lead role as the production team expands.
- Experience with mechanical and electronic assembly using hand tools and precision equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Exposure to light industrial or production environments, including medical device or drone assembly.
- Demonstrated precision, accuracy, and detail orientation in previous work.
- Strong sense of compliance and quality, with an emphasis on documentation and data collection.
- High level of dexterity and coordination suitable for small-scale electromechanical work.
Why Work Here?
You will join a growing robotics-focused operation where hands-on work directly shapes a new production process from the ground up. The role offers full-time on-site contract employment with a clearly defined path to permanent placement and advancement into supervisory positions for top performers. You will benefit from competitive compensation, opportunities to refine cutting-edge assembly and data collection practices, and the chance to collaborate closely with engineers in a supportive, safety-conscious environment that values accuracy, craftsmanship, and professional growth.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site role based at a robotics-focused headquarters facility. You will work primarily at an assembly bench in a light industrial production environment, using precision hand tools, electromechanical components, data collection equipment, and digital workflows. The workstation is maintained as clean, organized, and ESD-safe, with regular interaction with engineers and production teammates. Shifts may include days, nights, overnights, weekends, and overtime, and you should expect extended periods of standing, walking over varied and uneven terrain, climbing ladders or scaffolding, and performing physically demanding tasks for up to 12 hours per day. The environment includes occasional exposure to hazardous materials used in painting processes, with established waste handling and disposal procedures. Personal Protective Equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, hearing protection, full-face respirators, and gloves is provided and required, and you are expected to adhere to all prescribed safety rules and guidelines at all times.
