Custodian

CustodianCleans and maintains building and grounds areas. Cleans classrooms, cafeteria, halls, restrooms, locker rooms, sidewalks and other areas. Performs minor repair and maintenance work. Sets up for special events. Performs other duties as required.Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space. Uses floor cleaning machine and other equipment. Empties trash and garbage containers. Maintains building, occasionally performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities. Changes light bulbs and replaces air conditioner filters. Notifies supervisor concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment. Properly uses chemicals necessary to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in assigned areas. Cleans debris from sidewalk. Keep custodial closets clean and orderly.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to pass a background check Must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card with IVP# prior to hiring.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of supervisors or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee will be engaged in daily strenuous physical activity. The employee is frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds. The employee frequently is required to move about the District or campus. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold.
