Data Center Technician

The role requires working independently and with a team in a 24/7 environment and traveling within and outside the regional work area. Amazon does not sponsor immigration for this role, but a lump‑sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate. Key Job Responsibilities Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix, and network troubleshooting; respond to operational incidents that affect service availability and escalate as needed. Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors. Participate in on‑call duties, scheduled maintenance, and change management activities. Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on operational issue analysis. Help train and onboard new team members. Physical Requirements Regularly lift or move up to 40 lbs; participate in group lifts for 41+ lbs. Work in cramped and/or elevated locations, bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching as needed. Stand and walk for up to eight or more hours a day. Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely without limitation. Work in a noisy environment and shifts longer than eight hours to support 24/7 operations, covering night, day, weekend, and holiday shifts. Essential Requirements Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed. Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training or until assigned facility becomes operational. Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of the assigned facility. Day in the Life As a Data Center Technician, you will take ownership of technical issues, engage other teams when necessary to drive resolution, solve problems at their root while understanding the broader context, and maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting. Basic Qualifications High school or equivalent diploma. At least one year of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and/or weekends. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a Data Center environment. An associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, networking engineering). Understanding of network design, protocols, and layer 1/2 troubleshooting. Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
