Student Assistant for Family Engagement & Grad Communications

The Student Assistant for Family Engagement & Grad Communications will support communications and engagement efforts for New School families and students approaching graduation. This position will assist with developing timely, relevant communications that help families and graduating students stay informed, navigate important milestones and deadlines, and access resources and opportunities. Applicants should anticipate working approximately 10 hours per week during the academic year from September 2026 through May 2027. RESPONSIBILITIES Draft and edit emails, blog posts, and other content for New School parents and families. Help identify important university updates, deadlines, events, and resources to share with families. Provide operational support for the Family Ambassador Program. Respond to timely student inquiries in the View email address on click.appcast.io inbox and View email address on click.appcast.io inbox. Assist with parent and family programs including Family Weekend, Family Orientation, and virtual sessions. Draft and organize messaging on graduation preparation, key deadlines, university resources, events, and opportunities. Support with planning and staffing the Countdown to Commencement events. Create Canva graphics, visual assets, and branded materials for families and graduate students. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be a current full-time New School student pursuing a degree. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in writing and verbally Strong editing and proofreading skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office. Proficiency in Canva. Ability to follow The New School’s brand and style guidelines. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Full-time New School student pursuing a Graduate degree. Previous experience in communications, media, marketing, design, or a related field. Previous communications, marketing, social media, or design experience. Experience creating content for social media, newsletters, email, or other digital platforms. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with email platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact. Familiarity with The New School and its student community. WORK MODE Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.
