Job Title: Head Bartender - Full Time

Department: Food and Beverage

Location: Grill

Reporting to: Bar Manager

Responsible for: N/A

Job Purpose: Position encompasses standard grill bar. Quality control, staff training including, steps of service, bar protocol/policy, bar procedures & guest interaction. Maintain bar cleanliness and communicate maintenance issues. This position is basically the team leader for the bar, communicate bar issues to management and communicate management issues with staff. Position does not require any hiring which will be done by management .

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Train all new staff
• Collaborate schedule with manager
• Monitor and maintain drink consistency in bars
• Help maintain service standards, including guest interaction, steps of service. Communicate any issues with Manager
• Monitor liquor display at all bars including proper displays for various vendor relationships
• Maintain opening and closing duties at all bars, communicate any issues with bar Manager
• Report any maintenance or equipment issues to manager
• Bring any staff complaints to Manager, including schedules
• Assist manager with Staff evaluations
• Consistent training on menu items, including drink recipes, food and wine descriptions
• Help hold staff to highest standard for consistency with food beverage program
• Act as liaison between staff and management communication
• Work with Manager for areas needing improvement. i.e. pour testing and general beverage procedures –
• Health Department protocols and regulations are being followed and consistently monitored/tested.

Physical Requirements

• Physical:
  • Able to work standing for a minimum period of 8 hours a day
  • Periodical bending, kneeling, and stretching
  • Able to pull, push, carry and lift at least 40 pounds of force
  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands
  • Frequently required to work in a limited physical space with variable atmospheric conditions including the following areas: ventilation, lighting, smoke, and temperature.
• Excellent knowledge of all bar products with a focus on wine and menu products
• Excellent knowledge of POS system
• Understanding: Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions according to established procedures
• Comprehension: Fluent in the English language
• Organizational Skills: Work efficiently, utilize multi-tasking, prioritize tasks
• Hygiene and Sanitation: Adherence to uniform, grooming and personal hygiene standards and expectations per SOP’s
• Punctuality: Adherence to posted schedule and arrival time and attendance at mandatory meetings when scheduled
• Responsibility: Personal comportment in line with Standard, New York policies, standards, and expectations.
