Assistant Principal of College Readiness & Culture - Apex Starting Date: Jul 6, 2026 Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $76,000 to $101,150 Per Year Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Principal of College Readiness & Culture is a key member of the administrative team responsible for cultivating a strong school culture rooted in the Leader in Me framework, student leadership, character development, and college and career readiness. This role leads the implementation of the 7 Habits across the campus, oversees student engagement programs, and builds meaningful connections among students, families, staff, and alumni. Leader in Me Framework Serve as the school's implementation lead for Leader in Me. Work in collaboration with the District Leader in Me Coordinator. Coach staff on embedding the 7 Habits into instruction and school culture. Track progress using Leader in Me tools, including MRA, student goal-setting, and WIGs. Student Leadership & Engagement Supervise student government, class officers, and peer mentor programs. Empower students to lead initiatives that build pride, unity, and student voice. Design advisory curricula that reinforce SEL, executive functioning, and college readiness. Coordinate adult‑student and peer mentorship systems. Clubs, Competitions, and Events Provide oversight for academic clubs (Science Olympiad, MathCounts, Robotics, Debate, etc.). Oversee and coordinate the StarLeague Program. Encourage staff and students to participate in regional and national competitions. Support coaches and sponsors with resources and logistics. Attend competitions to show support and recognize student achievement. Liaise with athletic directors to support student‑athletes' academic, behavioral, and leadership success. Foster school pride through spirit weeks, pep rallies, and athlete recognition. Promote character-building and sportsmanship as part of school culture. Parent & Family Engagement Organize workshops and family education sessions. Coordinate the Home Visit Program. Oversee the Parent and Staff Lighthouse teams. Coordinate parent volunteer opportunities tied to events, advisory programs, or student recognition. Oversee the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Staff Engagement & Wellness Plan and coordinate regular staff events and appreciation activities. Develop and support wellness initiatives that address staff morale and burnout. Gather and analyze staff feedback to continuously improve engagement strategies. Alumni Relations & Tracking Establish and maintain an alumni database to track college persistence and postsecondary outcomes. Coordinate alumni events such as the Annual Alumni Dinner, sports events, and gatherings. Work in collaboration with the District Alumni Coordinator. Create opportunities for alumni to give back through mentoring, speaking engagements, and panels. Showcase alumni success stories to inspire students and build community pride. Additional Duties Support and promote the school's mission, vision, and culture. Follow Board policies and maintain confidentiality of all student, parent, and staff information. Maintain high visibility throughout the school and remain accessible to staff, students, and families. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor/administrator. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution in education or a related field. 3+ years of experience in teaching or school administration. Current North Carolina Professional Educator's License. Strong oral and written communication skills. Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritize duties. Computer skills including keyboarding, email, databases, Word, and Excel. Friendly demeanor and ability to interact professionally and positively with staff, students, parents, and community members. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree in education or administration. Experience implementing the Leader in Me framework or the 7 Habits. Experience leading student leadership, advisory, or college readiness programs. Experience coaching academic clubs, competition teams, or athletic programs. Prior experience in a public charter school or similarly mission-driven setting. Bilingual abilities (English plus another language).
