It involves responding to abnormal conditions and addressing problem-solving, safety, and quality in team performance. Job Description Essential Functions Ensure the development of standard work and the training and development of teammates. Support the continuous flow of specimens within the area of responsibility. Cover gaps for call outs, project time, personnel needs, and unexpected teammate absences. Seek ways to improve team performance, enhancing quality, customer service, productivity, and reducing spending. Dedicate a minimum of 70% of each day to continuous improvement. Ensure the quality of testing in the area of responsibility, investigating quality issues and implementing countermeasures to prevent recurrence. Document abnormal conditions or quality issues and provide feedback to relevant personnel. Audit processes to ensure teammates follow established standard work, coaching them if necessary, and informing the Group Leader. Maintain point of use storage, including proper labeling, organization, and communication with Materials Management regarding changes in demand, additions, and deletions. Maintain 5S conditions within the area of responsibility to ensure safety and quality standards. Use visual control audits as appropriate. Ensure teammates wear proper PPE and work safely. Monitor team productivity and promptly respond to Andons for the area of responsibility and other Team Leader areas when necessary. Provide necessary support for teammates. Troubleshoot instruments or other equipment if possible, ensuring the teammate understands the issue before closing it out. Inform the Group Leader of any personnel situations that might be considered abnormal or extreme. Act as a catalyst in launching team-building activities and be receptive to trends or changes in team spirit. Skills Previous experience in FISH Analysis, Chromosome Analysis (blood and bone marrow), and Cytogenetics Wet Bench Setup is preferred. Physical Requirements The role operates in a busy environment around physicians, technologists, and visitors. It requires active navigation around equipment and involves exposure to infectious materials, chemical hazards, and fire and mechanical hazards. The environment is analytical, physical, and managerial.
