About the Role:

The Sorting Operator plays a critical role in how to start and stop all sections of the sorting line. Monitor alarms, and how to troubleshoot and fix each one. 

Keep equipment filled with proper boxes for the product running on that line.                            

Keep glue and wax pots filled throughout shift.                            

Make sure your line is running up to spec on all aspects. (label, tile printer, box)                            

Must be able to load and unload boxes/items from carts, lines, as needed.                            

Report any unsafe issues to your supervisor immediately. MUST WEAR APPROPRIATE PPE.                            

Pay attention to remove defective tile from line.                            

Read and interpret gauges on machine.                            

Record all data from machine and complete daily paperwork as specified by your supervisor.                            

Be able to read, write and to have basic math and computer                             

skills. Ability to operate mechanical equipment and perform basic                            

mechanical functions. Be able to make decisions on his/her own.                            

Must have good listening and communication skills and work well with other team members.                            

Be willing to work with others in different departments as needed or required.                            

Always be willing to be a Team player with everyone in or out of your department.                            

Keep the work area safe and organized at all times.                             

Keep work area free of clutter, perform housekeeping daily.                            

Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.                            

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Basic understanding of sorting procedures and safety protocols.
• Capability to follow detailed instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with sorting machinery and conveyor systems.
• Basic computer skills for tracking and reporting purposes.
• Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds safely.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

• Sort and categorize incoming materials or products based on size, type, destination, or other criteria.
• Operate sorting machinery and equipment safely and efficiently, performing routine maintenance as needed.
• Inspect items for damage or defects and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to comply with safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure timely processing and shipment of materials.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Sorting Operator to efficiently and accurately process materials, ensuring that items are correctly categorized and prepared for the next stage of handling. Attention to detail is essential for identifying damaged or incorrect items, which helps maintain quality standards. Physical stamina and manual dexterity are used daily to operate machinery and handle materials safely. Preferred skills such as familiarity with sorting equipment and basic computer literacy enhance the operator's ability to work effectively with technology and improve workflow. Strong communication and teamwork skills facilitate coordination with colleagues, contributing to a productive and safe work environment.
