Role Overview We are seeking a Program Director who will serve as the Founding After‑School Multi‑Site Director overseeing four afterschool programs. The role involves overall development, management, and adherence to program excellence and compliance, and requires a skilled positive youth development leader who is passionate about social justice and committed to empowering students, families, schools, and communities. Responsibilities Launch and oversee the development of four DYCD compass middle school afterschool programs. Ensure each partnership with Children afterschool program is implemented with fidelity to the organizational model. Direct the development of annual work scopes, rosters, schedules, etc.; monitor progress and negotiate changes with stakeholders. Use data to monitor program decisions and performance and continuously improve quality and outcomes. Be an active participant in DEI initiatives, applying knowledge and learning in work. Build and maintain key collaborative relationships with school principals, staff, and diverse New York City Public School stakeholders. Develop staff management and leadership skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, effective collaboration, and data‑driven decision making. Assist staff in integrating into and engaging with school culture through positive community relationships. Lead onboarding and training of staff members on PWC and DYCD policies and procedures. Conduct weekly structured administrative supervision of direct reports. Collaborate with Talent & Recruitment to hire site directors and afterschool staff. Lead site directors through high‑stakes youth interventions. Provide programmatic, fiscal, and overall compliance oversight related to contracts and funders (DYCD, NYCPS, NYS DOE, ACS). Manage program budgets and ensure responsible stewardship of resources. Ensure timely and high‑quality administrative recordkeeping and data collection. Qualifications At least 8 years of experience working with children, with a minimum of 2 years of progressive experience leading OST (Out‑of‑School Time) or similar youth/educational programs. At least 4 years of experience as supervisor or manager overseeing multiple locations or a large team of program directors. Demonstrated understanding of high‑need communities, public schools, and social service, education, and behavioral health issues affecting students and families. Understanding of change management in organizations and schools; ability to support staff as change agents. Superior engagement, communication, and presentation skills with stakeholders, including principals and parents. Ability to form and maintain strong collaborative partnerships with colleagues, principals, and strategic stakeholders. Experience working with middle schools. Exceptional managerial, supervisory, and staff development skills. Outstanding collaboration and consensus‑building skills. Strong commitment to personal and professional development. Deep knowledge of afterschool compliance, including NYC Public Schools, DYCD, OCFS, and DOH regulations. Ability to adapt, encouraging openness, flexibility, and creativity in meeting programmatic and regulatory needs. Flexible, multi‑tasker who can handle multiple priorities. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, Public Administration, or a closely related field (required). Master's degree or a School‑Age Child Care (SACC) credential (preferred).
