Job Title

Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care / Step-Down (IMCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights (3x12, 19:00–07:00) | Onsite | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 26-bed Intermediate Care Step-Down unit serving adult acute care patients requiring a higher level of monitoring and intervention than a general medical-surgical floor
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and pulse-oximetry continuously; manage dysrhythmias and participate in Rapid Response and Code team activations
• Manage IV therapy including peripheral line care, titrated medication infusions, arterial lines, and central lines
• Provide respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen, non-invasive airway management, and acute BIPAP support
• Maintain strict isolation precautions and adhere to evidence-based infection control practices
• Float to other units as required and manage patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:7 in a MedSurg capacity when needed

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license – must be in hand at time of submission, no exceptions
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in an IMC, PCU, Step-Down, or comparable acute care setting
• Current BLS certification
• Current, valid NIHSS certification – must be included at time of submission
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records – hard requirement
• Ability and willingness to float to other units as assigned

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients receiving BIPAP support and titrated IV medication infusions
• Background in a tertiary care or high-acuity hospital environment
• Familiarity with multi-disciplinary care team collaboration in a step-down or critical care adjacent setting
