About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 18 months of experience required License: Must have in-state license prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Telemetry experience IV Start experience Knowledge of cardiac and vasoactive drips Experience with BiPAP and high flow oxygen Charge nurse experience preferred Description: The unit specializes in cardiac and medical care. It functions as a true stepdown from ICU. Patients may require heart catheterizations and management of BiPAP and cardiac drips. Nurses are responsible for administering medications such as Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, and Amiodarone. The unit administers vasoactive drips and is equipped to handle crisis situations. Candidates must be comfortable floating to meet facility needs. Weekend work is required, with a possible expectation to work two of three major holidays. Previous charge experience is a plus. The nurse-patient ratio is 4:1. Additional skills include management of dysrhythmias and peripheral line care. Candidates should be skilled in starting and maintaining IVs. Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips is preferred, but not mandatory. Tracheostomy care and rapid response involvement may be required.
