Sales Assistant

The Sales Assistant supports the sales leadership and broader sales team by managing customer communication, providing administrative support, handling contract and order documentation, and maintaining accurate data across customer portals and internal systems. This role plays a critical part in supporting customer accounts, coordinating internal requests, and ensuring the smooth execution of sales-related processes within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries and requests, providing timely and professional responses.
• Support the Sales Manager and sales team with daily account management activities, including follow-up and status updates.
• Coordinate internal requests across departments and ensure timely follow-up to meet customer and business needs.
• Input, update, and maintain customer quotations within customer portal systems and internal databases.
• Assist with contract reviews, purchase orders, and customer documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Support new business awards by preparing documentation and communicating updates to internal teams.
• Maintain accurate customer records, profiles, and reporting documentation to support decision-making and performance tracking.
• Assist with customer trial orders, including order entry, delivery scheduling, and issue resolution.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and departmental reporting activities by preparing and updating spreadsheets and reports.
• Update supplier information and manage customer portal requirements to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
• Participate in weekly reporting and sales review activities by preparing data and contributing updates.
• Provide exceptional customer support and responsiveness to strengthen relationships and enhance customer satisfaction.
• Ensure timely completion of administrative and sales support activities in alignment with departmental goals.
• Build strong working relationships with customers and internal departments through clear communication and reliable follow-through.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and ownership of assigned responsibilities, proactively addressing issues as they arise.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience supporting sales, account management, customer service, commercial, or inside sales teams.
• Strong customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including spreadsheets, data tracking, and reporting.
• Demonstrated ability in data entry, order processing, and administrative support.
• High level of organization and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong follow-up and project coordination skills to ensure tasks and requests are completed on time.
• Experience interacting with customers and internal stakeholders in a professional setting.
• Comfort working in customer portals and data management systems.
• Self-motivated with strong time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Plymouth, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $64000.00/yr. Direct opportunity, Med, vision and dental. PTO & holiday pay.
