Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities.
The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering.
This is achieved through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses and advocacy in the care of individuals and families.
The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development.
The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.


The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients.
The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, depending on unit assignment and various factors.

The RN utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy.
The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing and time management.
The RN complies with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
The RN actively participates in and supports improvement initiatives and peer review practices.
The RN engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completes mandatory education requirements.
The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
The RN provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
The RN may perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.
The RN may assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
