DENTAL ASSISTANT

Dental Assistant – Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center Inc., New Hartford, NY (13413) Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Shift: 8:30a.m. – 4:30p.m. (Day) Responsibilities Act as chairside assistant to the dentist. Assist the dental hygienists chairside and/or in work areas. Assist the dental schedulers with clerical concerns when needed. Expose and process quality radiographs as requested by the dentists or dental hygienists. Keep track of inventory of supplies for the dental department and inform the purchasing coordinator of needs. Be responsible for sterilization of dental instruments following proper sterilization techniques. Maintain work areas that are clean and safe, meeting New York State Sanitary Code and OSHA standards. Be responsible for general maintenance of equipment (e.g., handpieces, autoclave, etc.) as necessary and in accordance with established guidelines. Perform duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards, adhering to the facility’s corporate compliance plan and applicable laws. Adhere to the facility’s confidentiality statement when accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of residents and employees, as necessary. Perform any other duties as requested by the Dental Supervisor. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. Experience preferred in general dentistry. Completion of a BOCES dental assisting program or commitment to do so. Certification in dental assisting desirable but not required. High quality customer service standard with the ability to effectively and courteously deal with the public and co‑workers in a busy multi‑task environment. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient‑related information. Strong time‑management capabilities to accomplish assigned duties and prioritize among multiple tasks. Demonstrated understanding and implementation of the core values of our organization relating to ethics, relationships and success as shown by daily actions.
