A mission-driven organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Lead / Senior Accountant to oversee funder financial reporting, budgeting, and general ledger management. This role works closely with program and leadership staff to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and informed decision-making.

The Accounting Lead is responsible for managing core accounting functions with a strong emphasis on grant and funder reporting. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting compliance requirements, and providing clear financial insight to non-financial stakeholders across the organization.

Compensation: $28 - $48/hr DOE

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for funder financial reporting
• Ensure all financial reports are accurate, complete, and submitted on time
• Reconcile accounts and maintain the general ledger
• Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with program and leadership staff
• Monitor budget performance and proactively flag variances
• Track grant budgets, expenditures, and performance within the accounting system

• Strong financial controls supporting compliance and audit readiness

Skills Required

• Strong understanding of expense allocation methodology
• Ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-financial staff
• Proven ability to build collaborative, cross-departmental relationships
• Comfortable navigating multiple accounting and reporting software platforms

Experience Required

• 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience
• At least 2 years in a lead or senior accounting role
• Experience with 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) preferred

• Ability to manage competing deadlines independently
• Responsive and service-oriented approach to internal stakeholders

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
• CPA candidate or progress toward certification a plus
