Clinical Nurse (RN), Infusion Center - Emeryville - 10-HR Rotating 1.0

Brief Overview The Clinical Nurse (CN) is an RN who provides hands‑on care to patients, practicing in an evidence‑based manner, within the Scope of Practice of the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, standards of care, and hospital policies. Within that role, the CN performs all steps of the nursing process including assessing patients, interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, coordinating care with other providers, and teaching the patient and family the knowledge and skills needed to manage their care and prevent complications. The CN partners with the patient’s family wherever possible, considering all aspects of care, to deliver family‑centered care. As a professional, the CN monitors the quality of nursing care provided and is responsible for his or her own professional development, including licensure, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and maintaining current knowledge regarding the assigned patient population. What You Will Do Establish therapeutic relationships: create and maintain a climate conducive to healing, provide emotional support and information, and guide the patient and family through stages of illness and recovery. Mobilize the patient’s strengths and abilities toward participation in recovery and control over the plan of care. Diagnose and monitor: obtain accurate assessment data, interpret as normal vs abnormal, determine nursing diagnosis, and monitor data as needed based on stability. Plan and implement therapeutic interventions: collaborate with patient, family, and health‑care team to develop an individualized plan of care; implement nursing and medical interventions safely; evaluate effectiveness and monitor for adverse responses. Teach and coach: assess learning needs, provide self‑care and illness‑prevention instruction, adjust information based on patient responses, and teach other staff as preceptor or super‑user. Manage rapidly changing situations: rapidly grasp problem situations, activate emergency protocols, and respond appropriately. Ensure quality healthcare practices: monitor own practice, assist others, seek opportunities for continual improvement, and promote patient and employee safety. Organize and work: integrate multiple requests by setting priorities, delegating tasks, and seeking assistance; contribute to team building and positive morale through constructive conflict resolution. Utilize technology: learn and employ available technology for communication and documentation, and locate information regarding unusual clinical situations. Contribute to professional practice: train and mentor other staff, participate in shared governance, publish or present professional work, and demonstrate lifelong learning. Communicate effectively across all formats and practice areas, and demonstrate leadership in professional practice settings. Education and Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university (preferred). Two (2) years of oncology experience, preferably in an Oncology Infusion Center. One (1) or more years of acute care experience. Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Excellent IV skills and ability to work independently in a complex health‑care environment. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Required certifications: California Registered Nurse license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for providers issued by the American Heart Association, Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification, and OCN certification (preferred).
