Data Integration Engineer (Wealth Management / Fintech)

job summary:
We're looking for a technologist who likes making systems talk to each other. At Alterna

Securities, our advisors and operations teams rely on data that lives across custodians,

portfolio accounting platforms, CRM, and market data providers. Your job is to connect

those pieces - build and maintain the integrations, keep the data clean and reconciled,

and run the projects that move our technology stack forward.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You won't be one of forty people on a

platform team; you'll be the person who scopes an integration, builds it, and sees it

through to the people using it every day.

responsibilities:
 Design, build, and maintain integrations between internal systems and third-party

platforms, primarily through REST APIs, scheduled file transfers, and vendor

connectors

 Map and normalize data across sources so that account, position, transaction,

and client records reconcile cleanly

 Monitor integrations in production, troubleshoot failures, and build in the logging

and alerting that catch problems before users do

 Run technology projects end to end - gather requirements from advisors and

operations staff, evaluate vendors, manage timelines, and handle the rollout

 Write and maintain documentation so the work doesn't live only in your head

 Partner with compliance, operations, and sales to ensure data handling meets

regulatory and internal control standards

qualifications:
What we're looking for

 2-5 years of experience in technology integration, data engineering, solutions

engineering, or a similar hands-on technical role

 Practical experience working with REST APIs - authentication, pagination, error

handling, rate limits

 Comfort with SQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred) for data

transformation and automation

 Track record of running projects to completion, including the parts that involve

non-technical stakeholders

 Clear written and verbal communication - you can explain a technical constraint

to someone who doesn't care about the technical constraint

 Exposure to wealth management, brokerage, or financial services is strongly

preferred. You don't need to be an expert in portfolio accounting but knowing

what a custodian feed or a performance calculation is will allow you to move

much faster here.

Nice to have

 Experience with custodial data feeds or portfolio management platforms (e.g.,

Schwab/Fidelity/Pershing, Addepar, Salesforce)

 Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and modern data tooling

 Understanding of financial services data security and privacy requirements
