They act as a liaison between customers, repair shops, and insurers, ensuring repairs are completed efficiently, safely, and within budget. Core Job Roles * Damage Assessment: Inspect vehicles to evaluate structural, body, mechanical, electrical, and interior damage. * Repair Estimation: Use specialized software (e.g., CCC One, Audatex, Mitchell) and manual calculations to determine labor, parts, and material costs. * Report Preparation: Document inspection findings, repair plans, and cost breakdowns for insurance claims and internal records. * Insurance Coordination: Work with adjusters to submit estimates, negotiate approvals, and ensure compliance with insurance guidelines. * Customer Communication: Explain repair options, costs, timelines, and procedures; address customer concerns and preferences . * Repair Planning: Coordinate with technicians and parts departments to schedule repairs and ensure component availability. * Quality Assurance: Follow up on repairs to verify work meets safety and quality standards before returning the vehicle. Key Responsibilities * Inspect damaged vehicles to determine necessary repairs . * Estimate repair costs using industry standards and software. * Prepare and submit detailed damage reports to insurers. * Communicate repair status and updates to customers. * Negotiate repair costs with repair shops. * Maintain accurate records of estimates, repairs, and claims. * Stay updated on vehicle design, repair techniques, and industry regulations. Skills and Qualifications * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Proficiency in collision repair software and estimating tools. * Knowledge of automotive repair processes, parts pricing, and insurance procedures. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. * Often requires an associate’s degree in auto body repair or related field and I-CAR certification.
