About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief of Security to oversee the daily direction and supervision of security operations, ensuring compliance with all regulations, rules, and procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for the security and safety of the client population and staff, making improvements in security operations, and developing and implementing security-related policies. This role involves exercising overall supervision of security personnel, participating in the selection, hiring, training, and evaluation of staff, and responding to emergency situations. The Chief of Security will also be involved in the formulation of escape and riot control plans and may assist in long-range planning and community coordination efforts. Applicants for the Chief of Security position at the company should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences or a related field. A minimum of 5 years' progressive work experience in a correctional environment, including 2 years of management experience, is required. The role demands the ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of others, as well as the capacity to treat staff and inmates consistently and in accordance with policies and procedures. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is a working knowledge of program objectives, correctional laws, and requirements for managing a secure correctional facility. The ideal candidate will be mature, flexible, and able to command the respect and confidence of both inmates and staff.
