Position Overview

A growing public accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Manager or Senior Tax professional to work closely with business owners and clients across a broad range of tax matters.

This role provides exposure to tax planning, compliance, research, and advisory services , while offering the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships, resolve complex tax issues, and mentor less-experienced team members.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax expertise with excellent client service skills and a desire to continue growing professionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned tax clients and build strong, long-term relationships.
• Advise clients on a broad range of tax matters, including planning, research, compliance, and general business activities.
• Manage federal and state tax compliance engagements and coordinate client needs throughout the engagement process.
• Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns.
• Analyze tax positions and identify opportunities for tax planning and optimization.
• Research complex tax issues and communicate recommendations and conclusions clearly to clients and internal teams.
• Manage multiple engagements while balancing deadlines, priorities, and client expectations.
• Stay current with changes in tax law, regulations, and industry practices.
• Mentor and develop staff and senior-level team members.
• Help team members understand expectations, strengthen technical skills, and identify opportunities for career growth.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field .
• 4+ years of relevant tax experience.
• Active CPA, active EA, or currently sitting for CPA examinations — required.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
• Familiarity with FASB and Internal Revenue Code requirements .
• Ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly to clients and colleagues.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax/accounting software.
• Strong communication, organization, and client-service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ year of management, supervisory, or mentoring experience.
• Experience managing client relationships and tax engagements.
• Experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
• Experience providing tax planning and advisory services.
• Stable employment history.
