Job Summary It is the intent of the basic job requirements, duties, and responsibilities that any building be kept neat and clean at all times. These minimum requirements should be referred to as a guide, rather than a limitation to the services required to maintain a building effectively. Staff will be required to perform the necessary work to maintain the optimum level of cleanliness in every building or worksite serviced by FlagShip. Schedule and Pay 1st shift: 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM, Pay: $17.00 per hour 2nd shift: 2:00 PM – 12:30 AM, Pay: $17.00 per hour Benefits 401(k) Dental Insurance Flexible Schedule Health Insurance Paid Time Off Vision Insurance Essential Functions Sweeps, vacuums, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines. Uses ladders, dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings and polishes light fixtures. Washes and replaces blinds. Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas. Removes stains from surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions. May sweep walkways, rake leaves, cut grass, remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks. Uses industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing machines for general floors. Sometimes uses ladders, dusts and washes walls, windows, ledges, cleans ceilings and dusts, removes trash, and performs heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Applies protection applications to walls, floors and equipment; removes protective applications when needed. Works carpeted areas: empties waste baskets, replaces liners, dusts/cleans tops of office furniture, vacuums all carpeting, spot cleans soiled areas, cleans glass on lobby door, sweeps and mops tile areas. Works lunchroom/ break areas: empties waste baskets, replaces liners, wipes/cleans all table tops and chairs, wipes/cleans vending machines and appliances, cleans sink and counter areas, sweeps and mops tile floors. Works restrooms: empties waste baskets, replaces liners, cleans and sanitizes toilets, basins, and urinals, sweeps and mops floors with disinfectant, spot cleans walls, partitions and doors, refills all restroom dispensers. Works non‑carpeted areas: empties waste baskets, replaces liners, sweeps and spot‑mops tile floors, completes damp mop tile floors, dusts/cleans desks and surfaces of tables. Performs periodic cleaning of overhead vents, dusts blinds, polishes wood furniture, dusts high partitions and ledges, cleans interior partition glass. Maintains janitor’s closet neat and orderly; ensures equipment such as vacuums are properly maintained at all times. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of basic janitorial duties and responsibilities. Good listening and verbal communication skills. For some positions, ability to speak/understand English. Maintains neat appearance. Wears a uniform at some worksites. Attends periodic training and safety meetings. Understands and anticipates clients’ needs. Is punctual. Education and Work Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred. 6 months of experience in commercial facilities and building janitorial work desired. Work Environment Small‑to‑large office environment. Safety glasses required while performing certain tasks. Fast‑paced work environment. Exposure to dust, odors, oil, fumes, cleaning products and moderate noise. Work may involve normal office and shop environments. Physical Demands Employee may stand, walk, sit for long periods; reach, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May lift and/or move a minimum of 40 pounds of office and facilities equipment. Requires basic vision skills; ability to use safety equipment. Must be able to use equipment safely.
