Junior Project Engineer San Diego, CA xCell In office Full-time Job Overview Firestorm is looking for a Junior Project Engineer to join the xCell engineering team. This early‑career role offers hands‑on experience on defense hardware programs and a broad exposure to engineering, program management, and supplier interactions. What You’ll Do Maintain project schedules, track milestones and action items, and keep responsible parties accountable across xCell programs. Assist engineers with technical tasks such as creating 3D models, 2D drawings, and resolving open engineering questions. Support supplier relationships through quote requests, follow‑ups, and communication to ensure timely delivery of needed information. Coordinate across engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to keep information flowing and actions moving. Participate in customer and supplier site visits (approximately 10% travel) to build an understanding of operational and commercial environments. Maintain accurate program documentation, meeting notes, and status reporting to keep the broader team informed. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Systems, Industrial, or related field). U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR regulations, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. 2+ years of relevant experience, or strong recent graduates and early‑career engineers are welcome. Organized, detail‑oriented with strong loop‑closure habits. Technically curious, comfortable digging into engineering details and asking clear questions. Strong communicator able to work across functions and levels. Preferred Qualifications Experience with project management tools such as Jira, MS Project, or equivalent. SolidWorks or other CAD experience. Supplier interaction or procurement support experience. Interest in defense, manufacturing, or hardware development. Compensation Base salary: $90,000 - $115,000, commensurate with experience. Equity: Meaningful equity grant in a growth‑stage defense technology company.
