About the Position

Description

We are seeking Board Eligible or Board Certified Gastroenterologists for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity at a large acute care hospital in Pennsylvania. This position involves inpatient gastroenterology coverage, including procedures, consults, follow-up care, rounding, and call responsibilities.

The assignment is expected to begin on July 26, 2026, with ongoing coverage needs. Providers will work alongside an experienced care team with onsite anesthesiology support and advanced practice providers assisting with patient management.

• Credentialing timeframe: Approximately 90 days

Job Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology coverage
• Perform emergency GI procedures
• Evaluate and manage new gastroenterology consults
• Conduct patient rounds and follow-up visits
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers on patient care plans
• Supervise APPs for consults and follow-up care as needed
• Participate in night call coverage
• Manage an average total patient census of 30–50 patients
• Handle approximately 9–16 new consults per day
• Provide weekend and weekday coverage as scheduled

Note: ERCP and EUS procedures are not required for this assignment.

Qualifications

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Gastroenterology
• Active Pennsylvania medical license required
• Active Pennsylvania license or IMLC Letter of Qualification (LOQ) must be in hand prior to submission
• DEA registration required
• Minimum of 1 year of Gastroenterology experience
• Ability to obtain hospital privileges and complete credentialing requirements

Working Hours

• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• 10-hour shifts
• Scheduled clinical coverage plus night call responsibilities
• Coverage need includes approximately one week per month and weekends
• Ongoing assignment availability
