Registered Nurse SCI Laurel Highlands

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections is actively seeking Registered Nurses to provide advanced professional nursing care to inmates within a State Correctional Institution. The role supports individuals with physical or mental health needs, injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. Responsibilities Patient Care: Implement nursing care plans, check vital signs, administer medications, perform treatments, and provide education to support inmate health Clinical Support: Assist physicians with examinations and clinics, administer tests and immunizations, and provide counseling and health guidance Emergency Response: Perform assessments, deliver emergency care such as first aid, CPR, or AED, and coordinate referrals as needed Record Management: Record and retrieve information in the electronic health record, prepare reports, and maintain required documentation Supply Maintenance: Sterilize instruments, inventory supplies, and ensure adequate stock in all treatment areas Work Hours and Additional Information Full-time employment. 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts; 40-hour work week. Rotating off days. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1st shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM; 3rd shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM Work hours TO BE DETERMINED Work schedule to be discussed during the interview. Additional hourly shift differential paid to those who work 2nd and 3rd shifts. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Qualifications This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
