THA's Kind Clinic Clinical Education Manager (CEM) provides leadership, oversight, and operational management of the organization’s clinical education and workforce competency program. The CEM functions as a clinical education leader and subject matter expert, supporting workforce development across all clinical disciplines including nursing, medical assistants, laboratory staff, and providers. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive clinical education framework that ensures all clinical personnel maintain the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. The role reports to the System Director of Clinical Quality (SDCQ), and collaborates closely with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Nursing Leadership, and Operations leadership to align education initiatives with regulatory requirements, quality improvement priorities, and strategic organizational goals.
Core Functions
Clinical Education Program Leadership
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive clinical education and competency program for all direct patient care staff across Kind Clinic locations.
- Establish standardized clinical training protocols, competency frameworks, and continuing education requirements aligned with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Ensure clinical education programs support compliance with federal, state, and grant requirements including Ryan White, HRSA, DSHS, OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and applicable Texas regulations.
- Monitor emerging trends, research, and advancements in clinical education and healthcare delivery and incorporate best practices into training programs.
- Lead and maintain the preparation, facilitation, documentation, and evaluation of structured clinical training and competency validation activities across the organization for nursing, medical assistant, and laboratory staff, including direct observation, skills validation, and chart review.
- Conduct ongoing education program evaluations, audits, and gap analyses to ensure training effectiveness.
- Assess training needs for new and existing employees using competency assessments, performance data, and quality metrics.
- Develop and maintain training materials including clinical manuals, job aids, competency checklists, and educational resources.
- Provide direct instruction through classroom training, clinical simulation, skills labs, and in-clinic training environments.
- Coordinate and deliver American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification and renewal for clinical staff.
- Organize internal and external continuing education workshops, clinical training sessions, and professional development programs.
- Provide coaching, remediation, and professional development plans when competency gaps are identified.
- Maintain documentation of training completion, competency validation, and continuing education compliance.
- Develop clinical staff as preceptors and mentors, serving as subject matter experts and internal educators to promote distributed clinical leadership.
New Employee Clinical Onboarding
- Lead clinical onboarding and orientation programs for new clinical staff including Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, and laboratory personnel. Delegating mentors/preceptors as appropriate while providing oversight and/or direct training.
- Coordinate provider onboarding programs (APRN, PA, MD/DO), including training, workflow orientation, and 90-day clinical shadowing evaluations in collaboration with the Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer, and System Director of Clinical Quality.
- Support the PAC Nurse Manager with nursing orientation, training, and competency evaluation processes.
- Ensure onboarding programs include EMR competency, standardized clinical workflows, infection control practices, and regulatory compliance training.
Organizational Leadership & Professional Representation
- Lead or support quality improvement initiatives related to clinical competency, training effectiveness, and patient safety outcomes.
- Collaborate with the System Director of Clinical Quality, nursing leadership, and operations teams to integrate clinical education into quality improvement initiatives and patient safety efforts.
- Participate in the development and revision of clinical policies, procedures, and standing delegation orders to ensure education programs reflect current regulatory requirements and evidence-based practice.
- Serve as a liaison between frontline clinical staff and clinical informatics/technology teams to support adoption and optimization of clinical technologies and EMR systems.
- Assist with clinical workflow training related to EMR configuration, documentation standards, and clinical decision support tools.
- Participate in organizational committees, quality councils, and strategic planning initiatives related to clinical workforce development.
- Represent the organization in professional forums, conferences, and external collaborations related to clinical education and workforce competency.
- Promote best practices in HIV/STI prevention, treatment, and culturally competent care for LGBTQ+ and underserved populations.
- Travel between clinic locations (approximately 25%) to conduct training, competency observations, and staff support.
- Maintain all required professional licensure and certifications.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Compensation
Based on the position’s duties and requirements, this role has a starting annual salary of $98,000. The initial salary will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
We’re also offering a $2,500 signing bonus for this role as a welcome to our team. Payment of the bonus is contingent upon successful completion of new hire training, completion of a 90-day probationary period, and the employee remaining actively employed and in good standing through the payout date.
Requirements
Education and/or Licensure
- Nursing degree, BSN or higher with active RN or APRN licensure in the state of Texas.
- AHA BLS for HCP required, instructor certification preferred.
- Certification in Nursing Education or related field (required within 18 months of hire).
Experience
- 3+ years patient care experience in an outpatient clinic setting and/or similar role.
- 2+ years of experience in working with diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ and other marginalized populations.
- Experience with FQHC or STI/HIV testing and treatment clinic, preferred.
Ideal Candidate
- Has experience in clinical education or nursing leadership in the outpatient setting.
- Is a super-user for AthenaOne EMR (or other EMR in the outpatient setting)
- Master’s degree in Nursing Education or relevant nursing degree preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Must have basic PC skills that include a combination of working in a Windows Operating System and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality; able to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards.
- Must have the ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact; excellent customer services and interpersonal communication skills; Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse people groups.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in English; Additional language abilities desirable.
- Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.

- Usually works forty (40) hours per week, some weekends may be required.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions
