Shift Leader

REPORTS TO: Restaurant Manager and Co-Manager Job Summary The Assistant Manager works productively and supervises restaurant colleagues to ensure they perform their job responsibilities so the restaurant achieves customer satisfaction and profitability during their shift. Responsibilities Serve customers correct, complete orders within service time goals; follow Customer Service Standards, Priority Guidelines, phone and front counter station procedures, and remedy process. Prepare and serve consistent, high‑quality products as described in the employee handbook and job station helpers. Maintain proper image and follow company policies, procedures, and standards for conduct. Keep work stations clean and organized; uphold restaurant image standards per management and local health department. Manage cash and ensure compliance with safety and security procedures. Provide direction, feedback, coaching, and counseling to colleagues to ensure job duties are performed and company standards achieved. Control food, paper, and utility costs; monitor shift activities for compliance. Complete all daily paperwork accurately as described in the Operational ORG Guide or directed by management. Perform opening and closing duties and handle unexpected occurrences, notifying appropriate parties in a timely fashion. Physical Job Demands Ability to lift up to 55 pounds; push and pull up to 55 pounds; squat or crouch to lift items from floor level. Twisting up to 90 degrees left and right; bending back up to 90 degrees to lift objects from floor; bending arms up to 100% of shoulder height; lifting arms from side up to 100%; lifting arms over head up to 100%. Reach and move items from as high as six feet and as low as six inches off the ground. Operate kitchen equipment safely (sheeter machine, mixer, ladles, cups, spatula, pizza cutter, knives, etc.). Work outside holding a sign ('Shakerboard') (must be 18+). Apply pressure to cut, clean products; count, separate, weight food and inventory. Process and complete customer orders, including counting money and processing credit card transactions. Work with 650°F oven temperatures; withstand 90°F+ heat and below freezing temperatures. Stand for long periods; move between multiple stations. Maintain sufficient vision for safety and quality. Perform opening and closing duties in case of crew absence. Work an average shift of 10 hours. Comprehend training material, pass required training, practice SOPs. Use mathematical skills to compute sales totals, percentages, inventory usage, employee schedules, cash handling results, and projected needs. Legally drive an automobile following state and local traffic laws. Supervise multiple people simultaneously and motivate them to meet goals, duties, and deadlines. Qualifications Previous experience in restaurants, retail, or a position involving customer contact (preferred). At least 18 years of age. High school diploma and basic math skills. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Dependable, hard‑working, able to work under pressure and in stressful situations. Ability to work a standard schedule of approximately 20–30 hours per week; able to perform all essential functions of the job. Valid driver’s license from the state of residence with a driving record maintained within company guidelines; reliable vehicle and auto insurance required for daily banking and delivery responsibilities. U.S. Department of Justice (INS Division) requires documentation proving eligibility to work in the United States. Understand and comply with state and federal laws such as OSHA and EEOC; enforce company policies and procedures. Additional Information The Assistant Manager will be scheduled to work according to business needs; no guarantee of hours can be made. This position requires a hands‑on style of management and physical work such as lifting, squatting, and standing for extended periods.
