Seasonal Groundskeeper

SUMMARY: Assist landscape supervisor in completing daily landscaping tasks as directed, which includes maintaining grounds and property.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Operate powered equipment such as: lawn mowers, blowers, line trimmers, chain saws, rototillers, hedge trimmers, loppers, pruners, and utility vehicles ("gator")Able to be at work and on time as scheduled either written or verbal and Saturday night work as requiredMow or edge lawns using power mowers and/or edgersMaintain or repair tools, equipment, or structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, or benches, using hand or power toolsCare for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or wallsUse hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axesPrune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain sawsShovel snow from walks, driveways, or parking lots and spread salt in those areasGather and remove litterProvide proper upkeep of groundsAt season end return all issued equipment, uniforms and/or toolsOther duties as assigned by SupervisorKnowledge, Skills, Abilities:Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesAbility to observe safety and security proceduresAbility to use equipment and materials properly and safelyAbility to work near moving mechanical partsAbility to work in high, precarious places and elevated placesAbility to work in situations where there is darkness or poor lightingAbility to see clearly at 20 inches or less, and 20 feet or moreAbility to judge distances and spatial relationshipsAbility to use peripheral vision and adjust focusAbility to work in an environment with frequent periods of loud noiseAbility to stand, sit and walk for long periods of timeAbility to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawlAbility to climb and/or balanceAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and walk around with itAbility to work in temperature and weather extremes from sub-zero to 100+ degrees and snow and rainAbility to work 8 -16 hour work days as neededAbility to work Saturday or 6 consecutive days without a day off as neededQualifications:Education/ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferredCertificates/Licenses RequiredValid driver's license preferred but not essentialLanguage AbilityAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceReasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructionsAbility to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situationsNote: If A Safe Haven Landscaping reaches out to interview you for this position, you will be asked if you're interested in being considered for our Landscape Technician - Apprenticeship Program.This is an intensified version of our Landscaping training program, and is a DoL approved Apprenticeship Program.
