Senior Manager, Data Engineering (Enterprise Platform Data Engineering Team) JLL invites an experienced Senior Manager to lead our Enterprise Platform Data Engineering team. The role combines people leadership with hands‑on data engineering, shaping the enterprise data strategy, governance, and platform capabilities across the organization. Key Responsibilities Define and drive the Enterprise Platform data strategy, consolidating siloed sources into a unified, governed, and scalable data architecture. Provide technical leadership for the data engineering team, setting architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices. Architect advanced data integration strategies for structured and unstructured data, supporting AI/ML, real‑time insights, and analytics. Lead the design and delivery of platform capabilities that enable intelligent search, contextual recommendations, and automated insight generation. Design and implement enterprise‑grade data integration frameworks, API strategies, event‑driven patterns, and consumption standards. Partner with data science and ML teams to establish MLOps‑compatible pipelines, feature stores, and model input governance. Guide semantic layer, ontology, and knowledge‑graph design for discoverability and consumability by human stakeholders and AI systems. Drive adoption of emerging best practices and modern stack components across the team. Establish DataOps practices, observability, lineage tracking, compliance controls, and data quality standards. Collaborate with executive, product, and business teams to align platform capabilities with enterprise strategy and translate business challenges into data roadmaps. Hire, mentor, and grow data engineers; conduct technical reviews and foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. Serve as the data engineering voice in executive and cross‑functional forums, communicating roadmap and trade‑offs. Qualifications Required 3+ years of direct people management of data engineers or equivalent. 10+ years of data engineering experience, including enterprise‑scale, fault‑tolerant platforms. 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Azure or AWS, including services such as Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Glue, EMR, Redshift. Expert proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, and PySpark/Spark. Experience in data modeling, architecture, and performance‑scalable design. Deep understanding of MLOps practices, model governance, and production ML systems. Broad experience with SQL, NoSQL, vector, and graph databases. Strong technical leadership, mentorship, and cross‑functional initiative experience. Preferred Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field. Expertise in semantic layers, ontologies, and knowledge‑graph implementation. Streaming architecture experience using Kafka, Spark Streaming, Flink, or similar. DevOps knowledge: CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), Kubernetes, EKS, AKS. Experience with LLM‑driven workflows, prompt engineering, and RAG architectures. Knowledge of data governance, GDPR/CCPA compliance, and enterprise security. Published technical work or contributions to open‑source projects. Ownership – accountable for team outcomes, platform health, and continuous improvement. Location & Compensation Remote positions available in Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX. Estimated compensation: $212,000 – $259,000 annually. Salary varies by experience, location, and market conditions. Additional Information This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
